Okay…..there are some things that I like.
Then there are the things that I love.
I love our children’s picture book collection.
There is so much fabulous art, magical words and inspiration to be had within their covers.
This is how we (…you should probably read that as ‘I’) try to inspire the children to read.
Fresh from a little tidy tickle up is how I like it best.
For me it’s mostly about illustrators. Then it’s mostly about Australian Illustrators.
You have to have Freya Blackwood….because if you don’t then you don’t know what you’re missing.
Go and buy some (or all if you like) of her books NOW!
However, if you have Freya then you won’t have enough. You will then need to add some Kerry Argent for colour and design and quirky animals.
Mix in a little Stephen Michael King for whimsy and delight (make sure you click on his link because his website is GREAT!). If you really like a touch of all things Australian then you’ll probably find yourself sailing towards Bruce Whately and teaming him up with generous lashings of Pamela Allen.
…Oh and Rod Clement! Don’t forget Rod Clement!
Put them all together and show their covers to the world.
Receipe for happiness.
At least in my little world!
(note:…..this is just a smattering of our books. I really can’t help myself when it comes to them and I have no intention of changing that anytime soon!)

Hi Jenny! We are so much alike… I love my collection of children’s books too! I think it’s great that you collect local authors. I also think that maybe there is an illustrator at your home, waiting to be released in her own book!
