isn’t she lovely?

Posted by Jenny on May 21 2010 | The Farm

Her name is May and she’s such a pretty little thing.

A trip out to the property on Thursday brought with it a suprise that I for one was not expecting. I might not have been expecting it but it turns out that at least one of our goaties was expecting!

This lovely mother had her first baby waiting for us when we rolled up.

She’s a good mother although she does seem a little overwhelmed and confused at times. Don’t we all?

I say that we didn’t know we had the patter of baby hooves in our future….although we did have our suspicions.

This lady should have her baby….(or babies by the swagger and sway back she has) in the next couple of days. We suspect that one of our other goat girls might be in the motherly way as well.

Life seems to be getting a bit more interesting out on the farm.

I can’t begin to tell you how excited the children are.

On a non-farm note. Thank you to everyone who congratulated me on my painting sale. It was exciting and bewildering at the same time. It was followed by my first attempt at teaching the gentle and noble art of stitching to a class of eager and willing learners. I need to back that lesson up with another next Monday.

I’m so out of my depth.

Fingers crossed for me that the second class is better than the first. I think that my students are teaching me far more than I’m teaching them. I will continue to bribe them with baked treats to try and buy their confidence. Shallow I know but a viable teaching aid in the hand of an experienced mother. Just ask my children.

Poor students!!!

Have a great weekend. If you’re looking for us….we’ll be out with the goats!

  1. The baby goat is sooo cute!
On a different note - are you interested in drawing something for me? I love you style and I’m in the process of remodeling my blog/ getting my website up. Please e-mail me if you’re interested and tell me how much you’re asking for your art :-)

  2. I feel like I should be sending a “Congratulations on the New Baby” card!! You guys are definitely farmers now! Is goat cheese in your future? ;) I am not above the regular bribe… it is the secret of all teachers. You’re just in on it now!!! ;) shhh And I just laugh when you say that you are out of your depth… you know way more than the beginning sewer!! Your stitches are perfect too and being your #1 fan, I should know!!!

  3. Oh my goodness what a sweatheart. You must have been so thrilled to see her. I bet the kids don’t want to leave her and go home each time you visit.
