the very hungry caterpillar quilt back from the quilters
I’m still just as excited about this fabric as I was when I first found out that Eric Carle’s work was now available in these gorgeous bright prints. It took me a long time to decide how to treat it. I hate to cut into lovely fabric. At least while it remains whole the it’s possibilities still seem endless. The great thing for me was that it lent itself so well to be combined with the bold, bright homespun colours that I used.
This is what I came up with in the end. It’s like all the quilts I make. No real plan. Everything just coming together in a bizarre, can’t believe that meets up so well, organic kind of way. So with that in mind don’t be too judgemental!
It’s just for us and we like it.
Especially the kids.
It’s the first quilt that I’ve included a lot of white in. I have to say I like it. I’m even planning another quilt that has white as a major feature. I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to appreciate white…but there you go! I’m hooked now.
It’s also the first quilt that I’ve had professionally quilted. I usually rely on my little Brother machine with it’s little walking foot to meander a dodgy stitch in the ditch on the quilts I make.
I really like the finished product.
Bright, happy and ever-so-not-so-perfect.
Edit…..
The pattern is now available in my shop!
Thanks
Jen

This is just beautiful. I really need to learn how to sew!!! All that time spent baking and cooking (which I do love and enjoy) and what I think about most lately is how I wish I could sew…

Hi Jen.
I bought the Very Hungry Caterpillar panel and some of the other fabrics. So I am ready to make a quilt and yours is darling. Do you have the pattern and can you send it to me. It is so much nicer than the others I have seen using the VHC fabrics.
Thank you,
Donna
