think i may have jumped in the deep end

Posted by Jenny on Apr 28 2010 | Children inspire me, Day to dayness, Drawing and Painting, Sewing

The roughs for a new venture I’m dipping my toes into.

I think that I’ve jumped in with both feet and forgotten to hold my nose.

I’ve been paddling around in circles for what seems like a very long time. If I stop and think, it’s been over a year since I’ve felt really passionately about sewing and making. Certainly since The Little Bush Princess went to school I’ve floundered and just filled in the gaps of time with mush. Nothing of any consequence.

I’ll let you know what I’m up to when I have a bit more of an idea myself.

Hopefully it will help to stop my brain from turning to compost!

oh so fine and found online

Posted by Jenny on Apr 24 2010 | Sewing

I’m sure that I’m not the only one who finds it hard to find ‘things’ at times. I get an idea in my head. Something I want to make and it rattles around and around until I can’t ignore it anymore. The problem I face is that there’s no ‘one stop’ shop for sewing in the town I live in. I can spend days chasing down and sourcing materials to make my visions into reality. Quilting stores, hardware stores, second hand stores. I know them all. As a last resort I turn to online shopping. Mainly because I want things now and don’t want to have to wait.

When I find a great online seller it makes me so happy….so I’m going to share my latest find. I stumbled across Three Rivers Fabric while wandering around Etsy. My questions were answered swiftly, my purchase was processed directly and the package arrived quickly, wrapped up neat and tight, safe and sound.

Look at the lovely pieces I found. I’m sure there will be those of you out there who have ready access to these great prints. Not me though! So I was really happy to have them arrive on the door step.

Drop by Three River Fabric. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

tullulah lives here

Posted by Jenny on Apr 22 2010 | Children inspire me, Sewing

Our little Bamboletta babe Tullulah’s here.

She’s be a big hit with both The Little Bush Princess and her Mum…..me…..you’re NEVER too old to play dolls. Tullulah comes a lot of places with us. Her first outing was to the Farmers Markets, she’s been visiting friends, helped with the shopping and seems to have endless patience for playing dress ups. I’ve sifted through my old dolls clothes and found a few vintage numbers that fit her. I knew that keeping them was the right thing to do!

TLBP took this snap of her in a cardigan that I used to dress my dolls in over 30 years ago. It makes me feel very old but it makes me happy to see her enjoying it all over again. She doesn’t seem to notice that it’s a little on the old side, neither does Tullulah.

I have been doing a bit of sewing lately. I’ve just been too unorganised to take photographs of it before it leaves me.

Tullulah came out for these photographs and it very quickly became about taking photographs of her and not so much of the little frock!

Sorry to have been so absent lately. I’ll try to post more frequently from now on!

Maybe it’s time to stitch up some clothes for Tullulah as well.

high on a hill….

Posted by Jenny on Apr 09 2010 | The Farm

Can anyone out there yodel?

The lead up to these little critters arriving on the farm has seen a lot of yodelling going on around here. None of it good!

Our farm now has it’s first official ’stock’ under our ownership. That is to say the first living things that WE’VE intentionally placed there. That’s not to say that there aren’t lots of things running around out there. It seems like every time we go out there we find evidence of some new critter or other that calls the place home.

Maybe the goaties can keep all the freeloaders in line! I actually have no doubt that they can. The ‘big male’, ‘JT’ has a wicked case of little man syndrome and the head armour to mean business. When the going gets tough (or if anyone is near him in any way shape or form!) JT mans up, puts his pointy nointy horns down and butts people! Its rude…but I think he’s too set in his ways to change now. He’ll be our challenge.

(Sorry about the quality of the photograph…it was a phone photo. Fear not. I’m sure that there will be a host of goatie pictures happening around here in the future!)

decorating for easter

Posted by Jenny on Apr 04 2010 | Children inspire me

The Little Bush Princess has been decorating her crafting area for Easter.

I don’t think that there’s any doubt that The Easter Bunny will be stopping here this year!
