i love her style

Posted by Jenny on Mar 26 2010 | Children inspire me, Drawing and Painting

The Little Bush Princess is five. Five going on eighteen sometimes….but five none the less. This is one of her little ink and watercolour scribbles. With Easter on the horizon bunnies and chickens are hot topics of conversation around here.

I love this little character. Simple, sweet, neat and cute.

I love her style!

guess who’s coming to live with us?

Tallulah!

Isn’t she just beautiful?

She’s on her way to Australia from Canada and all her little friends at Bamboletta.

Made by the incredibly talented and dedicated Christina she will be a doll that The Little Bush Princess will hold for the rest of her life. She will be so cherished! Christina’s Nonna knitted her little cardigan. How wonderful is that?

If you’re interested in one of these little people then you need to be dedicated to your craft. They’re so hard to get. For good reason. They’re amazing!

Will post some more pictures when she’s home with us.

set on simmer

Posted by Jenny on Mar 16 2010 | Day to dayness, Sewing

I know I’ve said it too many times here….although here I go again!

I’m still finding it very hard to find inspiration and determination to create since The Little Bush Princess started school. I sit and I dream. I plan, plot and jot things down. However that seems to be about as far as I get.

Silly isn’t it?

The fabric in the photo at the top is an eclectic mix of prints and colours that I like. They have very little to do with one another though…I want to put them together into a big, mismatched quilt. I fear that it might be an aquired taste!

These fabrics are part of my dreams for little girl clothes.

I’m going to go and pop them in the machine right now and give them a dry on the line. Then they’ll be ready to use won’t they?

I just need to take myself off the simmer and find a way to boil without my little girl under my wing.

is it easter tomorrow?

Posted by Jenny on Mar 13 2010 | Children inspire me, Day to dayness, Drawing and Painting

Our days seem to start and finish with the same question at the moment.

The question is always posed by The Little Bush Princess and is usually worded something like…

‘Is it Easter tomorrow?’

I think the fact that it’s not Easter tomorrow is becoming harder and harder for her to stomach. So it was time to sort out some Easter activites.

She and I sat to the table and started to paint some Easter paintings. I have other crafting planned for Easter…but I was caught on the hop (so to speak!) and needed to come up with something quick and satisfying. So painting it was!

Before long The Golden Child had joined us and spread out his painting equipment. For him it was all about landscape painting.

Not quite Easter but you’ve got to paint as the mood takes you right?!

I had a bit of a dabble. I can’t tell you how silly it is to put your cup of tea right next to your painting water!

I nearly had technicolour tea on more than one occasion!

Saturday was very busy and somewhat chaotic around our house this week.

At least a little spell of painting broke up the chaos for a bit and allowed for a little quiet time. Together.

being patient….not my strongest point!

This is Blossom. Isn’t she sooo beautiful?
I can’t begin to tell you how much The Little Bush Princess smiled when she saw this little lady. Neither can I convey how much she begged me to make her ours….I tried…but it didn’t happen. How we wish it did!

I have coveted the work of Christina and her wonderful helpers for a long time now. I’ve also been trying to secure one of her gorgeous creations for….a long time now. Turns out this task is not as not as easy as I first thought it would be. Her work is so popular.

The last upload Bamboletta had earlier on in the week saw the shop loaded and cleared within seconds. No word of a lie. Seconds!

I found myself looking under the computer wondering if the dolls had fallen out. There could be no other reason!

So…while I wait (hopefully not for too long, cross your fingers for me) to try and secure a Bambo of our own I will have to satisfy myself by dressing up my own favourite little dolly in a kimono wrap and jeans. I have no pattern for felt shoes!

What do you think?

It’s one of my first attempts at making my own clothing patterns for her to wear.

I think it worked out well. Very Bamboletta!

More to the point it went a long way towards keeping ‘dance hair’ tidy when we were at ballet on the weekend. The wrap meant nothing had to go over her head and fluffy up her hair.

I’ll keep on dreaming!
