bubble bubble

Posted by Jenny on Dec 22 2009 | Day to dayness, Sewing

I love this pot.

It doesn’t belong to me.

I wish it did.

Can I have it in your will Kate?

Please?

You know I’ll treat it well and use it often!

No?….Oh well, I’ll settle for tie dying in the New Year then!
I can still help can’t I?

EDIT NOTE

My lovely friend Donna tells me that if I put stuff ‘out there in the universe’ and declare that I want it then cosmic forces will see that ’stuff’ come to me.

Dang nab it!

The girl is right!

I put this post up and headed off to do a spot of finishing off ‘Christmas stuff’ and came across this exact pot! On sale, marked down from $24.99 to $14.99….and it scanned at $7.50!

Spooky I tells ya!

Oh and I just realised that the name of this post has magical imagery as well.

 Even spookier!

i know things have to change…but does it have to be now?

Posted by Jenny on Dec 20 2009 | Children inspire me, Things that remind me of....

Here are some of the titles I thought of for this post.

‘It’s not you, it’s me.’

‘Discombobulated’

‘Where to from here?’

‘Changes changes everywhere’

All of them seemed appropriate. Everything seems to be shifting weight around here. Rolling from the then and moving to the new.

My only problem is that I was really rather happy with the old…and as with most things in my life. I’m rather intimidated by the new.

I’ve been a bit absent from here of late because I’ve been so busy everywhere else.

The Little Bush Princess had a final class concert for her little pre-school class. It was so lovely and so heart wrenching at the same time.

Counting down the days until there would be no more turns on the flying fox.

The last ballet class for the year.

The last day in year three for The Golden Child and Presentation Day that made me cry.

Then the Pre School’s Christmas Party.

On 15th August 2000 I stopped working fulltime a few weeks before our little boy was born. I haven’t returned to the workforce in any real way since then. A bit here and a bit there but nothing much. Now in six weeks time my last little lamb heads off to school. I feel a sense of almost mourning settling over me. There’s a lump in my throat that I can’t hide in my voice any more. It sounds silly, shallow and a bit wrong but I feel like my ‘reason for being’ is running out…shallow I know.

I know change must happen.

I just wish I could stall it for a little while longer.

Just a little while.

 I’m not ready yet.

easy peasy puddings

Posted by Jenny on Dec 15 2009 | Cooking and baking

Oh how I would luuurve to take credit for these little beauties but they just weren’t my idea. Although I’m a bit hazy on where I saw them I think it was in Australian Homespun magazine but I KNOW that they were the idea of the very very talented Janelle Wind.

They are so easy. All you need is some of those lovely little Arnotts Royal biscuits, white chocolate melts, jaffas and mint leaf lollies.

You melt the chocolate and dob it on the top of the biscuit. Cut a mint leaf in half and while the chocolate is still warm place it on top as holly leaves and pop a jaffa in the middle and ta dah!

Even with The Little Bush Princess ‘helping’ me I was able to make enough of these to feed her entire pre school class in ten minutes flat!

That’s what I call saving time at Christmas time!

Give them a go!

Oh and there are two posts today because I have a feeling I’m going to be waay to busy to post tomorrow!

when is a clothes line not a clothes line?

Posted by Jenny on Dec 15 2009 | Children inspire me, Day to dayness

Answer…

…when it’s a cabana of course!

We don’t have a covered outdoor area or even what you would call an adequately shaded area outside for the children to play in when the sun is out and hot hot hot. So with our best friends coming over for a play the other day we put our heads together to come up with somewhere we could be outside in the breeze without getting burnt to a crisp.
The answer was under the clothes line. Not such a salubrious destination as it was. However, with the addition of an old chenille bedspread with cabana style fringing and some bunting for bling we had the bones of a place to go and be out of the sun.

With a view through to the cubby house where the kids would be playing

and with the addition of bubbles it was a very pleasant day under the old clothes line!

Go…cabana-ise your clothes line!

It’s fun!

good blogger vs bad blogger

Posted by Jenny on Dec 14 2009 | Day to dayness, Sewing

Markets update:

If you’re a good blogger and you spent weeks hiding your wares from your blog and have spent all your spare minutes stitching, planning, stuffing, drawing and finishing projects that normally you would leave as WIP’s for months then….when you went to the markets you would take photographs of your little ’shop’ and all your wares sitting beautifully under the hot hot sun.

If you’re a bad blogger you would get there a little on the late side, still be setting up when the first people wandered into the little ’shop’, never quite find your feet enough to think to take the camera out of the car.

Guess which one I was.

Yup! I was the bad blogger!

I went with my friend Freya. She took her lovely t-shirts and cards. I toted out puppy dogs, dolls, hairclips, felt fish, quilt and bag patterns along with other little bibs and bobs.

We had a great day in the sun. I didn’t get burnt this year! Yay! You should know that I get burnt at these markets as a wandering customer let alone when I have to spend all day out in the sun. I thank my extremely wide brimmed hat and sun block. This pale faced girl wasn’t made for a full day in the Australian sun!

The only thing I have to show for my day is a sense of satisfaction, a little more money to play crafty girl with and a this fabulous apron…I provided the muscle and stitched them up. Freya provided the bling by adding one of her glorious illustrations. They were our little ‘uniforms’ for the day. Very professional!

I know I’ve been very absent from this space over the last week. It’s just been so busy around here. Hubby has been travelling, everything has been winding up, school, swimming and dancing. Combined with Christmas being JUST AROUND THE CORNER….everything has just seems so very very busy.

I’ll try to blog each day this week with catch up posts.
We’ll see how I go!
