bilbies to come

Posted by Jenny on Oct 22 2009 | Original Patterns, Sewing

I said a little while back that I had made some bilbies and I would show you. I have and I will. I’ll pop the odd post in over the next week or so and show them off. I would list them in the shop but I find it REALLY had to photograph them so they make sense for the shop. There’s a market coming up soon that I’m thinking very seriously about going to. I might keep them for that….

I’ll see how I go.

This little girl is called Belle.

weeds and water

Posted by Jenny on Oct 20 2009 | Children inspire me, Day to dayness

One thing our new property doesn’t seem to be short on is weeds! The latest to rear their heads have been the Patterson’s Curse flowers. They look so pretty when they take over a hill and the slopes glow with their purple hue. Such a shame that looks can be so deceiving.

Unfortunately they’re a noxious weed and need to be dealt with. We’re not 100% sure how to efficiently do that yet, being new to farmin’ and all…but we’re sure that we don’t want to rush into a chemical solution. So that leaves The Little Bush Princess and her father’s chipper.

With 255 acres to manage I’m not too sure how efficient she will be on the weed control side of farming. She’s very quick to tire and lose interest. Especially when there’s a creek to paddle in and tadpoles to catch!

But remember….if the Weed Control Officer from the council asks you….you tell em we’re on it!
