weekend

Posted by Jenny on Nov 29 2008 | Day to dayness

From Julie’s hands to mine.

winsome

I can’t begin to tell you how tickled pink I am to have this little lady call my house her home.

I have never seen such beautiful craftswomanship!

She’s amazing!

And also from Julies hands to those of my children.

weenies

Julie has reminded me that in the world of hand crafted quantity is a hard thing to achieve but quality is essential.

Thank you Julie.

My long distance friend.

And for those who have sent me emails asking about the little Garden Warrior dolls.

I have just popped one into the shop.

bramble and her favourite little hen poppy

There are also two other new additions to the shop

phoebe

Phoebe and

Holly

Have made their debut. Fresh from the sewing machine today.

It’s amazing the things I can get done when my husband is looking after the kids!

Don’t forget that there is still the little give away going until 1st December.

Hope you’re all having a fantastic weekend.

monsterlings in the shop

Posted by Jenny on Nov 27 2008 | Drawing and Painting, Original Patterns, Sewing

There has been a bit of a monsterling explosion around here and a few of them have made their way to the shop.

charlie

Again I know that I’m not supposed to have favourites…but Charlie has my heart out of this little new clutch of monsters!

Thank you to Julie over at  Little Cotton Rabbits for posting some lovely pictures of my Briar and her favourite little Hen Thistle.

It’s a wonderful feeling when someone who does things that you admire likes the things that you make yourself.

Makes me smile!

I hope that they do indeed bring her some good gardening luck when Spring arrives. Julie has been very supportive to me since I decided to have a stab at this blogging lark.

How lucky was I that the first blog roll frazzy dazzles found its way onto was her wonderful Little Cotton Rabbits? Her kindness is amazing.

It has me thinking again that maybe I should write Briar up as a pattern and make her available as a pdf…share the Briar love around.

I really need to get around to turning her sister The Garden Warrior into a pdf.

At the moment I only have her as a paper pattern.

Something else for the ever lengthening ‘to do list’.

Oh and don’t forget the little give away is still running until 1st December.

Time for a cup of tea I think!

so excited

the girls

I’m not just excited….I’m giddily thrilled!

One of my little dolls, Flora the little lass in the bottom left hand corner has been bought from my Etsy store. She is winging her way off to America today.

I’m going to bundle her up safely and hope that she has enough room to wiggle during the long haul. I don’t want her to get a cramp.

I have a few more girls on the cutting mat.

This has made me itchy to get my hands on them.

Oh and don’t forget. There is still the give away running until December 1st….Christmas Tree Day!

beating my own drum

So the owl and the pussycat can be a hair clips

owl and the pussy cat

A mouse can be a hair clip

a little chicken can realise it’s dreams of adorning hair

blue chicken of happiness

and if I could…I would wear these flowers in my hair every day of the week

daisy

I guess that just begs the question….can a hedgehog be a hair clip?

hedgehogger

Turns out it can!

Thank you everyone who stopped by or emailed me to tell me that a ‘thing’ isn’t an essential part of happiness.

A long time ago I dreamed of ways of feeding my soul…without even realising it I was doing all of the things I had dreamed of…I just didn’t know it until I stopped and looked from the outside in.

And what’s the biggest thing I feed my soul with?

My family.

I wish you could have seen the look on The Little Bush Princess’s face when I presented her with this little whipped up dolly bed.

twins

It was run up in no time at all. Its so far away from being planned out or even well made (I made most of it while I was on the phone catching up with a cousin who I rarely get a chance to just chat with!)…but it made her day.

I don’t think a ‘thing’ would make me happy but I know that ‘doing’ does.

How do you feed your soul?

itchy feet

itchy feet

Lately I have been looking for my ‘thing’.

That’s a lie. It’s not just lately I’ve been looking. It’s been a life long seeking.

It’s an elusive thing. Elusive in as much as it’s remained unattainable to me for my entire life.

I sew and I sew and I sew and I sew.

Then I dream of children’s books and being an illustrator. At this point I should let you know that I have no skill or training….but I do have enthusiasm and that has to count for something right?

I can always learn the skills and get the training.

Maybe I need to write patterns. Maybe I need to make something worthy of becoming a pattern!

Maybe I should try and write a book…only for my children….but maybe I should really have a go.

Maybe I should follow the little girl in me and just make dolls.

But do what with them?

I just wish I had a ‘thing’ and then I wish I knew I had it assuming I had it…you know?

What’s your thing? Or are you still looking?

….oh and there is still the little giveaway running if you’re interested…..
