he’s eight!

Posted by Jenny on Aug 31 2008 | Day to dayness

he\'s eight

Our little man has just turned eight…but he can’t have because to me he was only born yesterday.

He was 3.38 kilograms

He was 53 centimeters long

His foot was as long as my first finger

He was and he is perfect

A perfect little man with so much to give and who takes so little

He was a precious gift

He is my dream come true

He is my Golden Child

And such a child deserves to do something fun and befitting his advancing age to celebrate his birthday.

So we took a little road trip and we went to the zoo.

We went on the early morning walk, up at 5.30 am and touring the zoo with a guide as the sun came up. It’s a lovely way to start the day.siamangs

african elephant

The African elephants are gentle giants…but no matter how much space this open range zoo offers them, I can’t help but think that it could never be enough to this wonderful migratory animalking of the jungle

The King of the Jungle. He had two lovely and very regal lioness’ with him as well.

just too much

and life is hard when you are a little zoo trekker who’s parents have walked the full 10klm’s around the zoo and you have had to come along for the ride. Thank goodness for the pram!

So happy happy birthday our sweet little boy

We are so much richer for having you with us. We love you so very very much

The lovely people at Cloth Kits have sent me their online newsletter. A great thing for them. Not so great for me because now I know how much I want one of these kits.

Where before I was living in blissful ignorance!

Hooow cute are these? The Little Bush Princess would look so gorgeous in these….and I should buy them. I should buy them because we own a VW camper…so it’s only right that TLBP be able to accessorise correctly…right?

Admittedly the Kombi currently looks like this

kombi

…except perhaps a little more pulled apart (if that’s possible!) and a lot more garage bound…

But one day she will look like this

dream kombi

so you can all see exactly why TLBP needs these overalls!

She neeeeds them. I just have to go and convince my husband of this…wish me luck!

where does the time go?

Posted by Jenny on Aug 26 2008 | Original Patterns, Sewing

Sorry for the delay in getting back to the blog. Sometimes life just gets in the way of doing the little things doesn’t it? Nothing major, just the nature of being busy I suppose!

There has been a little bit of crafting. There are about 7 monsters ready to go into the shop…when I get them photographed!

First cab off the rank is this guy. I haven’t thought of a name for him yet. He is made from one of my favourite chenille colours. Bright, bold and very boyish.

blue bed monster

As much as Gordon reminded me of Oscar the Grouch’s colours…this guy reminds me of Grover! I promise it’s a subconscious thing….or maybe its just because ‘kids shows’ are the only television I ever see!

working mouth

He has the snaggle tooth and the mouth that ‘works’…the kids tell me that a monster has to have a mouth that works!

monster mumps

And he appears to be getting over a case of the monster spotty mumps! It’s all good!

I will try to get the photographs done as soon as I get a chance. I have some owl and pussy cat clips photographed and ready to go…I just need to list them….have you noticed the ‘time starved crafting mother’ theme developing here?!

But the good news is …. drum roll please…

SPRING IS NEARLY HERE!

1st September marks the start of Spring here. Of course the frosts will linger and the days are still painfully short…but we are on the cusp of change! I really got a feel for the seasons being on the turn yesterday when I had to take this photograph.

bowl full of ducks

A bowl full of yellow rubber duckies left on the kids craft table by The Little Bush Princess. Warming themselves in the bright sunshine. Bright sunshine.…not cloudy gloom. There’s a wind of change blowing around here and I can’t wait for the warm!

The other thing that I need to do is thank Dy from flowerchilde cottage for thinking of me with the Brilliante Award

There are so many bloggers out there who deserve this award. So if you blog and you are reading consider yourself tagged!

giddy as a school girl

If you went out and bought this magazine

country style

and if you then turned to page 98 you would see this

magazine article

but if you looked a little closer you would see these

clips on the counter

ribbons holding a stash of Frazzy Dazzle felt covered hair clips!

Turns out that I am actually shallow as a puddle because seeing this picture in a this glossy, lovely magazine made me go all gooey at the knees! Giddy as a school girl!

The article is a feature on the great little store, Mini Maison in my little hometown. It covers the concept and the creation of the business and the business women behind the whole thing.

And my clips are in the photo….

….I just wanted to have a little gloat!

the owl and the pussy cat

Posted by Jenny on Aug 21 2008 | Original Patterns, Sewing

…went to sea in a beautiful pea green boat

They took some honey and plenty of money wrapped up in a five pound note…

That was one of my Grandfathers favourite little songs. He had such a lovely singing voice. Born or many years singing hymns…but much more suited to ‘the owl and the pussy cat’ if you ask me!

I have been feverishly sewing clips around here lately. Most of the time with The Little Bush Princess at my side stitiching along with me. The whole time narrating the kind of creature that she was in the process of creating.

There has been much sorting through the vintage buttons and the odd trip to the shops to pick up more clips to cover in pretty felt. Turns out I’m not the most organised crafty mum!

Hopefully I will now translate that into a shop addition in the next day or so. Mind you some have already left the building without ever having had a sniff of the shop!

blue bird of happiness

Like this little guy. It’s a shame to see them go sometimes.

This little one was one of my favourites…but it went to a good home.
